North End Baptist Church have been finding ways to support and welcome their local community, and we were glad to grant resources to support this work.
Becki shared: “North End Baptist Church is based right in the middle of North End, Portsmouth; an area we love deeply, but one that faces real social and economic challenges. We’re located in the second most deprived ward in the city, and because of that our heart has always been to simply serve the people around us with whatever resources we have.
This commitment to service shapes everything the church does. While North End Baptist Church may not be large or well-resourced, its focus has always been on offering hope, warmth, and tangible support to anyone who comes through its doors. As Becki shares,
"We’re not a big church with a big budget, but we are doing our best to bring hope, welcome, and practical support to anyone who walks through our doors and within our local community.”
With so many new people now joining us on Sundays - genuinely, almost every week there’s someone new. Having Lifewords Encounters with Jesus to put into welcome bags has been such a blessing. We want newcomers to have something encouraging and accessible they can take home.
The ability to offer these resources has been made possible through the generosity of Lifewords’ supporters, whose commitment to paying it forward enables Resource Lifeline grants like this to reach churches and communities that need them most. For North End Baptist Church, this support has made a real difference, enabling them to extend their reach and deepen their impact in the community they love.

Becki continues: “These resources have all been a real blessing to our community to so many; from the Daily Strength booklets we use at our men’s events, to the Meet the Cast resources for children attending our toddler group Little Gems.
"We also hand out Lifewords resources at some of our key services for Remembrance Day, our Christingle service on Christmas Eve and Sundays throughout Advent to name a few."
Lifewords has genuinely helped us do more than we could have afforded to do on our own, and we’re extremely really grateful.
Stories like this highlight how generosity, partnership, and accessible resources can equip local churches to serve faithfully, even in challenging contexts, and continue to bring hope where it is needed most.
