Your church is bringing life

Churches are the beating heart of villages, towns, and cities around the world. We want to help you reach into your communities and share the Bible as good news where and how it’s needed most.

Whether you run a food bank, toddler group, community group, drop-in centre, welcoming spaces for people who are on their own, Christmas fairs – however you serve your community, Lifewords is here to equip you as you share and live out the Bible's words of life.

Christ Church in Peckham, London, has been using the Little Brick of Little Books to share the Bible with young people in its community. The church works very closely with Grove Vale Youth Club, a local youth club who provide after school activities in a safe and fun environment for children and young people aged 4–18.

The youth club has been part of the local community for over 70 years and has been honoured with the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service. Andrew from Christ Church shared:

The youth club is staffed entirely by volunteers, and many of these volunteers are part of the congregation at Christ Church. For a few minutes at some point during each session, we share a short Bible-based talk, and a brief prayer. We use the Little Brick during our youth group too, the Little Books are always available to take, and many of those who want do something quieter will spend time reading the Little Books.

C3 UnitedLife in Sutton has also made use of its Little Bricks, sharing the Little Books at its Kintsugi Hope sessions, and Coffee and Conversation drop-ins. Kintsugi Hope – its name inspired by the Japanese technique for repairing pottery with seams of gold – is a charity with a vision to grow a movement of wellbeing groups where people who struggle or who have felt overwhelmed can experience a safe and supportive space. Kintsugi Hope groups work in communities through the local church with an attitude of humility, not seeking to judge, fix or rescue, but to come alongside and love one another.

Katherine, from C3 UnitedLife shared:

The Little Books have been so popular that one of the Little Bricks was empty within a week. Kintsugi Hope explores depression, anxiety, forgiveness and loss along with other themes, so the Little Books of Joy, Chaos and Help have been particularly popular in this context.

Katherine continued: "The Little Books are made available at each of UnitedLife’s Kintsugi Hope sessions, with time given at the beginning of each session for everyone to look through the various resources available. In a similar way we loved having the Little Brick available for people to look through our café space, and many choose to take with them a Little Book that resonates with their context."

Joy and Sarah, from Gateway Church in York, share Little Books with visitors at their welcome café – a warm, inviting space that offers community for those experiencing loneliness, and also provides an affordable way for locals to connect.

Many people who come to the café have been showing a growing interest in faith. Little Book of Joy and the other resources are great conversation starters and are the kind of booklets that people will keep.
