Whether holding events in the Plaza de Buin or visiting members of his church’s congregation, Pastor Teófilo is keen to actively engage and share his faith with his community in Chile.
“We seek to bring life by being a constant presence in our community - going out to public spaces, visiting homes, traveling on public transport with open eyes and open hands. We believe the Word of God has the power to transform lives when it arrives at the right moment, through people willing to share it with simplicity, creativity, and love.”
Buin, though part of the Santiago Metropolitan Region, is about 40 km from the capital and retains the feel of a rural town. Since it has no mall or beaches, families gather in the plaza every Sunday: children play, parents chat, young people skate, ride bikes, or enjoy ice cream. It’s the community heart of our town.

Lifewords has been a constant in our ministry since the 1990s when I arrived in Chile as a Brazilian missionary.
He continues: “Lifewords materials are easy to share in any context and have been key in our visits to families, community gatherings, and intimate moments of spiritual comfort. Their accessible language and attractive design open doors to deep conversations about God’s love. We’ve seen people who had never read the Bible stop, reflect, and become moved upon receiving these living words. They are more than printed pages—they are bridges of hope.
“In family visits, they open natural conversations about faith without pressure or imposition. In community gatherings, they serve as a starting point for collective reflection. With individuals, they have opened doors to deeper, more personal conversations.”
What I value most is that Lifewords booklets are not mini-sermons or text-heavy articles, they carry the essential core of God's Word, presented with elegance and clarity.

Teófilo has found more unique ways of sharing Lifewords’ resources too:
“During the pandemic, my wife sewed fabric masks. With every hand delivery, we placed a Lifewords booklet inside the package. When we shipped masks by mail three times a week, we always included a booklet as well. Those were times of fear, despair, and a deadly virus - but alongside every mask went a colorful, hopeful word from Lifewords. In times when fear dominated households, that small, colorful material arrived as a sign that someone cared. Several people thanked us specifically for that, even more than for the mask itself.”
Whilst there may be many Bible resources available, Teófilo explains why he continues to share Lifewords’ booklets:
“I also recorded a video in Portuguese to make other missionaries aware of these resources - several of whom have written to me expressing their gratitude for Lifewords.”

“Whilst searching for resources, I found another organization that sent me 50,000 booklets, but they were single-page, printed on thin paper, and looked like they had been stored for many years, with some spelling errors as well. The materials we receive from Lifewords are of the highest quality, easy to read, full of colour, and people gladly accept them. Many read them immediately; others tuck them into their pockets to read later. They are living tools.
Thank you again for your work and for the support that Lifewords brings to ministries like ours. It is a privilege to be part of this global network of people seeking to bring life.
