Youth workers are bringing life

Around the world, Lifewords resources are being used by youth workers as they encourage, support and disciple young people in their faith. In youth groups in Kenya, at events in Australia, in church communities across the UK, people have shared how our resources are enabling people to bring life through the words of the Bible.

Just as we seek to equip churches and chaplains, so we also seek to resource, equip and empower youth workers as they love, support and share the Bible with young people in their families, congregations and communities.

Conntecting young people with the character of God

Tom and his team at Kingdom Connections in Kenya have been sharing the Bible with students from a variety of schools through RISE Bible Clubs, where young people receive emotional support, share their lives with each other, build close friendships with one another, and discover the Bible together.

Through Lifewords booklets, Tom and the team at Kingdom Connections have had the opportunity to encourage young people in sharing their faith and have even witnessed great transformation as some of them encounter God for the first time.

One student, Noel, shared:

“I have learnt that God can change and take burdens away from me, I also learnt that through prayers God can help me through every situation. I thank God for Little Book of Prayer.  I pray that these books will help more children and young people to experience God.”

Through the Bible verses shared in each resource, many young people have learnt more about God’s power, love and compassion. Pamela reflected: “I thank God for the booklet Picking up the Pieces (Finding Hope) because through it I have learnt that God carries my every tear.”

Through their RISE Bible Club, both Mark and Miguel were impacted by Why Me? which explores hard and honest questions about serious illness and suffering. Written with experienced psychologists, and used by chaplains, pastors and hospital visitors, this booklet is a valued tool for sharing words of life in difficult times.

Tom from Kingdom connections shared: “Our partnership with Lifewords has tremendously impacted many young people,” says Tom. “The testimonies are abundant and we give God all the glory. We have reshaped a community known for gang activities into a transformed society.”

Staying connected

In Australia, Jesse is part of a team of six local churches who host youth outreach events, with festival-style activities, music, and a powerful message about Jesus. With Little Book of Faith in hand, Jesse and his team are helping young people encounter Scripture in a way that’s accessible, inspiring, and easy to connect with. The resource is packed with short, meaningful verses that speak directly to questions of identity, purpose, and God’s love.

At their most recent event, they gave copies to 80 young people. “We wanted to give them something real - something they could take home and reflect on,” Jesse says. “But a full Bible is expensive and can feel overwhelming, especially if you’re just starting out.”

“These booklets help us lead young people to Christ - and then stay connected in the days that follow,” Jesse shares. “It’s amazing to have these.”

In a world where youth are pulled in every direction, Jesse is sharing the Bible’s words of hope, and has seen the impact that our resources can have in on those who are beginning their journey of faith.

Encouraging young people in their faith

Hannah from Network Youth Church found a creative way of using Lifewords resources to help clergy and youth workers support young people. She set up a station for Network Youth Church at the Diocese of Carlisle’s recent Ordination Saturday, where many supporters, families and members of the wider diocesan team gathered together.

Lifewords Little Books were a significant feature. She explained: “Our stall was about encouraging and equipping clergy and youth leaders to connect with the young people in their communities and share information about what we do.

“As well as talking to people about what we do and how they can get involved with us, we were encouraging youth leaders and clergy to choose a Little Book and write a postcard to a young person that they are already working with in order to encourage them in their faith. The books were really well received. We gave away over 300 which will be winging their way into the hands of young people all over the county.”

In a quick shift from third person to first person, I have found sharing the Little Books to be a great way to encourage young people too. One of my highlights of summer is leading on a youth camp.

Last year I had the opportunity to share a Little Book of Chaos with each member of the group I was helping to lead, and I’ll definitely be packing more Little Books to share this year.

How could you bring encouragement or share your faith through a Little Book or another valued resource?
