A brand new beatitudes resource that every Lifebringer can use!
A New Rhythm is a set of twelve beautifully-designed and content-rich postcards exploring the beatitudes of Matthew 5. Because these words are more than ancient poetry found in the Bible. They are soul-deep wisdom. They are protest and invitation. In a world of division, fear, and burnout, they sound a new rhythm - a welcome, not a weapon, tender, not toxic. They show us a different way to be human.
On an ancient mountain side, to an occupied people, these words were ushered in with nine sayings we now call the beatitudes. Thousands of years later they are still turning the world, and the way we live, upside down.
Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.
Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst after righteousness,
for they shall be satisfied.
Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy.
Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.
Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called children of God.
Blessed are those who suffer persecution for righteousness' sake,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Matthew 5:3-12 (NIV)

Journeying through the beatitudes, A New Rhythm explores the way of trust, lament, humility, justice, compassion, right motive, peace-making, surrender, and radical love. They can be easily shared, collected, or used for starting faith conversations.

In a world hungry for meaning and desperate for healing, the beatitudes ring out with surprising power.
Lifebringers aren’t only about sharing the Bible with others, they are also committed to journeying deeper into what a faith adventure is all about. So we have linked the Beatitudes postcards to our individual and group discussion/study guide, The Ninefold Path.

The Ninefold Path notebook is a fresh, practice-based journey through the beatitudes, first developed by Mark Scandrette with Danielle Welch as part of our NINE BEATS project. Piloted in church, recovery, and at-risk contexts in USA, UK and Australia, it has also been utilised in churches in South Asia and East Africa. It is a great resource for Lifebringers to tap into. You can use the ‘New Rhythm’ postcards to access ninepath.org for more content, and you can get your resources to use over a nine-week series.
The Ninefold Path connects to the most important parts of our lives - daring us to join in God’s activity in the world and to experience the flourishing that can happen in our relationships, in our lives and for others.
These words of Jesus can be an introduction, or re-introduction, of how transformational the gospel really is. Imagine the effect on your community, on all of our communities, if we lived by the message of the beatitudes.
